Serie van zes interactieve workshops vanaf 20 februari.
Werken in het museum vormen het uitgangspunt voor deze workshop. Dwaal door de zalen en leer de kunst te benaderen vanuit verschillende invalshoeken. Wat denkt u bij een kunstwerk? Met deze waarneming als vertrekpunt, wordt er aandacht besteed aan de culturele en maatschappelijke context van het kunstwerk en de kunstenaar.. In elke workshop wordt een andere benadering van kunst onderzocht.

Van Abbemuseum krijgt schilderij van Karel Appel |

De collectie van Het Van Abbemuseum is uitgebreid met een door Karel Appel gemaakt portret van voormalig museumdirecteur Rudi Fuchs. Karel Appel (1921-2006) maakte het Portret van Rudi Fuchs in 2005, in de nadagen van zijn leven, een periode waarin hij experimenteerde met het gebruik van TL-buizen. Het was een laatste wens van Karel Appel dat het schilderij in overleg met Fuchs naar een toepasselijk museum zou gaan. Rudi Fuchs koos het Van Abbemuseum, waar hij van 1975 tot 1987 directeur was en waar momenteel een reconstructie te zien is van zijn collectiepresentatie uit 1983.

In een onopvallend zaaltje in het museum staat een oude kaartenbak, waarvan de inhoud gedeeltelijk zichtbaar is. Wat is dit? Een schetsboek, een doos van Pandora, een geheim archief? Uitgaand van dit werk van de Bulgaarse kunstenaar Nedko Solakov wordt in de lezing gekeken naar veranderingen in de kunst, die in gang werden gezet door veranderingen in de wereld sinds 1989, het jaar waarin Solakov met dit werk een aanvang maakte. De themalezing wordt gegeven door: Annebel Kuperus

Simon Bensons tekeningen bevatten soms teksten en soms zijn het puur ‘getekende teksten’. Zijn teksten groeien uit tot driedimensionale tekstwerken. In het klein, zoals Caos als tekening en wandobject. En groter in de zeventiendelige sculptuur An Anthropomorphic Landscape (1993-95) met referenties naar architectuur en naar het menselijk lichaam.

In februari start het derde Your-space seizoen met als thuisbasis het Van Abbemuseum. Het nieuwe programma van Your-space wordt zowel in het museum als in de stad Eindhoven getoond. Your-space focust zich op regionale en opkomende kunstenaars, het hosten van goede gesprekken en het ontwikkelen van experimentele presentatiemethodes en projecten.
Een van de nieuwe Your-space samenwerkingsverbanden, Spreekselreeksen #4, is met Extrapool Nijmegen en De Player Rotterdam: Peter Fengler "BAROQUE - NON BAROQUE een constructie/ a construction. De serie Spreekselreeksen is een serie multimedia lezingen die in de vorm van een performance wordt gepresenteerd.

A series of six interactive workshops
The art appreciation courses will teach you how to approach art from different angles. Starting with general observation, the course focuses on the cultural and social context of the work of art, the artist and your own relationship to the work. Your active participation and comments are essential in order to be able to view, describe and interpret art from a wider perspective.

| |
A portrait painted by Karel Appel of the former museum director Rudi Fuchs joins the collection of the VanAbbemuseum. Karel Appel (1921-2006) painted the Portrait of Rudi Fuchs in 2005, towards the end of his life, a period in which he experimented with the use of neon tubes. It was Karel Appel’s last wish that the painting would, in consultation with Rudi Fuchs, go to an appropriate museum. It was decided that this would be the Van Abbemuseum, where Fuchs had been director from 1975 to 1987, and where a reconstruction of his 1983 collection display is on view at this moment.

In an inconspicuous room of the museum you will find an old card-index box from which the inside is only partially visible. What is it? Is it a sketchbook, a Pandora’s Box or a secret archive? On the basis of this work of the Bulgarian artist, Nedko Solakov we are going to look at changes in art that were put into motion in the world since 1989, when Solakov started working on this piece. Simon Benson is first and foremost a draughtsman. His drawings sometimes include text and sometimes consist purely of drawn text. The lettering may also grow into a three-dimensional textual work. This may happen on a small scale, as in a drawing or wall object such as Caos, or on a large scale, as in the seventeen-part sculpture An Anthropomorphic Landscape (1993–95) with its references to architecture and to the human body.

In February, Your-space begins its third season. The upcoming programme of Your-space is one of collaboration and action both in the museum and across the city of Eindhoven, with a focus on giving space to regional and emerging artists, hosting good conversations, as well as developing experimental presentation methods and projects.
One of the first your-space activities this year is Spreekselreeksen #4: Peter Fengler- Baroque/Non Baroque – een constructie/a construction. Spreekselreeksen is a collaboration between Your-space/Van Abbemuseum, Extrapool (Nijmegen) and De Player (Rotterdam). It is a series of multimedia lectures which are presented as a performance.
